Main Thought: To examine the blessings of being a mountain walker verses a mountain climber.

Who doesn’t enjoy the mountaintops of Joy and Peace? We all love those times of great peace and rest for our souls. Unfortunately though, many of us spend 90% of the time in the valleys and very little time on the peaks. I believe our lives can be just the opposite if not 100% of the time on the tops of the mountains. By the way, what determines if one is having a mountain top experience? Is it the physical comforts around us, or the spiritual ones on the inside? I believe that those who have learned to worship from their hearts when this world is crumbling around them are the mountain walkers we need to be like.

I look at those who are rejoicing because they’ve had a miracle of the flesh or of their finances, and I say, show me someone who is dying of a disease and yet blesses the Lord from the depths of their spirit or is in extreme poverty with a spirit of thanksgiving to God. I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of lukewarm temporary mountain climbers who only desire to dip into the joys of God for a momentary high or relief from the trials of this life. My heart desires to soar on the heights with God each day He gives me the breath of life to breathe. I’ve learned and am learning that those who learn to walk passionately and whole-heartedly in the light that has been revealed to them will be shown increasingly more light. God’s heart’s desire is to give, but just as He tells us not to cast our pearls before the swine lest they are trampled; Matthew 7 6"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces. , so He doesn’t enjoy seeing His gifts wasted to those He gives to.

So how does He determine how much of His blessings one receives? By the “faithfulness and intensity” that one uses the gifts he has received. Has God given you little in this life? Then use it with all of your heart unto His Glory, Honor, and Praise and He will give you more. I see someone like myself that God has given great physical strength to do some mighty physical act and yet my spirit receives more joy watching someone who can hardly feed himself/herself do something that takes much effort and perseverance. God bless the souls in this life who learn the joy of hungering and thirsting for more and more of Him! His Word says in Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Whole Chapter: Matthew 5 In context: Matthew 5:5-7) Notice that it says “those who hunger and thirst” not those who have hungered and thirsted. We need to make it our life to daily press near to Him and say “Lord break me anew today so that You may make me whole” or “increase my hungering and thirsting for more of You today than yesterday” even though our hearts may be aching so much to be with Him that it hurts. I’d rather my heart ache due to the intensity of my desire to be with the One I love rather than then it be at ease.

People see someone who is intense and they think that the poor soul is all-aflame for their own hurt.  How we love to be comforted and at ease and how it bothers us for someone to be about the Father’s business of being aflame unto His Glory, Honor, and Praise. We’d rather snooze our way into Glory rather than shout. When the Father states in His Word; Revelation 3:15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! (Whole Chapter: Revelation 3 In context: Revelation 3:14-16) Being extreme pleases the Father even if you’re being extreme in the wrong direction for at least you would be a person of intensity and not laziness. God hates laziness! You can at least steer a boat that may be misguided into the right direction, but you can’t steer one that isn’t moving. It’s amazing how people get so offended by someone near them who are tired of a lazy and complacent walk. They will try and throw water on their fire just because it convicts them of their own lack of fire and enthusiasm. God loves people of conviction and who live their conviction with a passion and not out of a routine. He loves a cheerful giver; 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (Whole Chapter: 2 Corinthians 9 In context: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8).

No one enjoys a relationship without zing and neither does our God. If we’re convicted because someone near us can hardly keep their feet on the ground due to the fire in their heart, we should fall upon the Rock and ask Him to forgive us for our lack of fire instead of being offended. God help the bride of His Son to awaken and put on the fire of His Love and prepare for the wedding feast! Revelation 3:18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. (Whole Chapter: Revelation 3 In context: Revelation 3:17-19) Notice the preceding verse; “gold refined in the fire”, how much fire are we living in? It would do us good to live in the Fire of His Love and learn how to live life as He meant it to be lived and that is to the fullest and not worry about those around us who are all concerned about our “welfare” due to the intensity that consumes us! I’d rather live half of a normal human’s existence in this old world with all of my heart than live a comfortable life to a ripe old age of 100. You can have comfort and ease – give me instead a heart that burns aflame to be united with the One from which my breath exists.

When I experienced the greatest trial of my life here below because of a spouse that left me I wondered how much the human heart could hurt and yet still remain alive. Now, I’m amazed at how much joy and ecstasy the human heart can experience and still remain on this planet. It’s funny, but being with Him is like finding a place where I can go where there’s unlimited treasure and I find myself loading every nook and cranny with the riches that are there for whoever would receive them.  And then my day is filled with the joy of having been with Him. The songs of joy come flooding out of my soul like riches of gold and pearls that might be bulging from my pockets if it were physical treasure. My heart wishes everyone knew of this indescribable treasure that is for everyone to fill their being with each and every day that they live. O, that God would teach us how to be mountain walkers instead of momentary climbers. So that when the trials of life come calling and it appears that we’re in a valley because of the physical trials we may be going through, the fact will be that we will never have left the mountain tops of joy of being with Him. Kind of like Stephen in the book of Acts; Acts 7:54-60 54When they heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56"Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God." 57At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, 58dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." 60Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep. Do you really think Stephen came off his mountain tops of Joy of seeing Jesus next to His Dad just because those religious fanatics couldn’t handle it?! I don’t think so.

May we learn how to get into the Fire of His Love so that He may prepare us for the wedding feast of the Lamb. He is coming and coming soon. May we be found clothed in the beauty of Christ Loving Him ever more intensely than the day before! Oh, how shallow we are when we think that mountaintops are determined by our physical comfort or well-being. If God had allowed Daniel to be torn to shreds by the lions or His three faithful servants He rescued from the fiery furnace to be consumed thereby that would not have removed them from their mountaintops of Joy. God miraculously intervened for our benefit not theirs for they were already sold out unto death. We are the ones who need to see through their miraculous deliveries and see through to the heart of what brought them to the point of being willing to die for their faith. Can you imagine a world of individuals that came into the same walk of Love that they had? Wow, that would be awesome! May we all be found walking in Him through the thick and the thin so that when the final trump sounds and He calls for His own we be found in Him rich with the riches that will never fade or wear out.

He is coming soon! Let’s soar on the heights with Him together!
