Main thought: to explore the realms of passion verses the lack thereof
Treading Water? Or Burning Rubber?
There are those who enjoy not going anywhere or doing anything that stretches their muscles, their intellect or both, these are the ones who enjoy just treading water. Then there are those who only find treading water necessary until they can see in which direction they are to swim and then they’re off with gusto. It seems that next to pride, laziness is probably the most disgusting thing to the Heavenly Father’s heart. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! (Whole Chapter: In context: ) So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth. (Whole Chapter: In context: )
Notice, I say next to pride because there are those who feel like they know the direction they are to swim without getting instructions from the coach Who is Christ our Lord. Here again we see a need for balance, which seems to be an important trait throughout all creation. We need to learn how to still our hearts to hear His voice and once hearing it learn how to move out by His power and authority to accomplish what He has set before us. There are those who have so perfected the art of listening that they can hear clearly even while going all out physically which is why I say “those who have learned to still their hearts”. Isn’t it beautiful how different and beautiful we all are with the differences between us? Those who are quick to hear while going all out shouldn’t be quick to judge those who need to quiet themselves physically to hear nor should it be the other way around. Just like there is simplex and duplex communications within the physical realm (simplex is like walkie talkie communications where you can only speak or listen but not both at the same time as in duplex communication like our phone systems), so is there in the spiritual.
God didn’t make us to be an island to ourselves. It seems that the physical realm parallels the spiritual in many ways including the need we have to reproduce. Notice how when God created us He said “ Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [ 1:26 Hebrew; Syriac [ all the wild animals ] ] and over all the creatures that move along the ground." (Whole Chapter: In context: )”? Notice that just as it was in His heart to reproduce Himself, so He put that same need within all that He made; God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." (Whole Chapter: In context: ) He commanded that not only we be fruitful and increase and fill the earth but that the animals and plants would as well. Even satan who was created by God has that same fire burning within him and so even though his nature is foul and destructive, he still seeks to replicate himself in all that he does. It’s amazing how powerful this force is even down to the cellular level. How in the human, animal and plant kingdom there is a need for male and female cells to combine to reproduce and how they struggle to combine to do so.
It’s amazing how God Himself states that He is less displeased with one who is all out going in the wrong direction than one who isn’t even trying to go anywhere. It seems that the happiest people are those who are following the fire of their hearts to fight against all odds and to persevere. Why is this, because they are being true to the fire within their hearts? One of satan’s purposes is try to extinguish this fire to fight and to cause us to give up all hope. Christ came to make us more than conquerors especially to those who have come to the end of their own rope. Romans 8:36-38 36As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I don’t know about you, but I love to be on the winning team! Talk about the fire to overcome and persevere! God in Christ overcame death hell and the grave for each and every human being to just reach out and receive His gift of love in His Son, WOW! We become so very short sighted and so very self-centered on this flesh when we don’t take the time to look and listen to God’s display of love to us. To have ambition to fight and overcome all odds is good but, we need to bring our hearts to the One from Whom all life and power to overcome flows. Paul, God’s Wonderful apostle to us, had the fire to fight and overcome and God had mercy on him due to his willingness to follow his heart against all odds towards what he thought was right. Proverbs 24:16 for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity. (Whole Chapter: Proverbs 24 In context: Proverbs 24:15-17)
God is always willing to steer a ship that is going in the wrong direction into the right direction but His heart takes no delight in those who have grown so complacent and lazy that they just don’t care. Those who fine-tune themselves to listen to their hearts and the pattern in which we were made, I believe are the most content people that exist. God help us to rise up today and to shake off the mountaintops of yesterday’s revelations and victories and press ever nearer to the Heart from which we all exist.
