Main thought: to examine the wonderful beauty of diversity God has given each one of us in our gifts and our talents.
TOOLS OF THE MASTER!
2 Timothy 2:20-26 20 In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. 21If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. 22Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.†
How you ever seen those traits in you that make you unique and different? Iím so very grateful for the infinite beauty and creativity of our Lord who made no two of us exactly alike. And, considering the amount of people in the world, i begin to understand that for Him to know the numbers of hairs on our head is a menial task (especially those gifted with no hair!). Itís also interesting that none of us have all of what we need which is why i think that weíre drawn more to certain people than others, because they have something that we donít. And, donít you love those reality checks that our Lord does on us from time to time? I just had one recently where i was suddenly aware of those areas of my weaknesses. It just makes sense if we have areas of strengths, we must also have those areas of weaknesses as well. I donít know about you, but when my areas of weaknesses are brought to my attention, it bums me out! So, on the day of this sensitivity of my own short comings, i was feeling pretty low, but on the new day following, upon rising to pray, the Lord seem to restore me and then began to reveal in my heart the importance of the different instruments within His kingdom and how none of us have all of the strengths we need to be perfect in this life but that we all have certain strengths and weaknesses that make us learn how to depend on others around us to help complete who we need to become in Christ. Praise God for His checks and balances that help keep our hearts in the proper perspective! Paul needed one and God gave him a thorn in the flesh; To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. (Whole Chapter: In context: )
Itís funny, but on this same day where the Lord began to restore me, He began to minister the importance of the individual members of His body each with their own gifts and strengths that give beauty to the Bride of Christ. The strength He has given me is an extreme intensity in whatever i do. This strength makes it quite difficult not to be intense when i need to be mellow. As my heart pondered this strength and its advantages and disadvantages, I had to break up some ice in my driveway as winter was giving way to spring and thus there was much ice that needed to be removed. It seemed that i had the absolute perfect tool for doing so which was a long (about 6 ft) heavy metal bar with about a 3 inch wedge at one end. All one had to do was lift this about 10 inches over the ice and drop it and it would, by the sheer weight and sharpness of the wedge, break through the ice so that it could be easily removed. This bar while i was using it and setting it against my vehicle between shoveling away the broken ice, i had to be extra careful due to its weight and hardness not to scratch the vehicle. The Lord seemed to be showing me a picture of myself that while the strength He has given me makes me a great prayer warrior to break up the spiritual ice of satanís lies around the hearts of men, i need to be extra careful not to scratch the hearts of those around me who are not as hardened. A good verse which depicts the gentleness of our Lord with those weak is seen in A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; (Whole Chapter: In context: ). I think that is what the thorn in Paulís flesh was doing for him as well. Keeping him in that place where his head would not get ahead of his heart.
We have gotten so deceived in this wonderfully blessed nation to think that physical blessings equate with pleasing God. Oh, how blind weíve allowed ourselves to become with the goodness of Godís blessings upon this nation and how we need to repent of our lazy and arrogant ways. We see people who are free of pain and financial troubles and think that they are in a special place with God. I love what our Lord tells us in Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? (Whole Chapter: In context: ).
It seems that the only thing that the blessings of the flesh bring us is laziness of spiritual hungering and thirsting for righteousness. †It takes a true mature person to have both physical blessings along with spiritual zeal for Christ. How i enjoy looking into the hearts of people and pets and seeing the incredible diversity of character of spirit in each and every one. Each one of us is unique and very special to the Fatherís Heart and how we need to learn to lay at His feet those gifts and talents He has given us. I might add here not only our strengths and talents, but also our weaknesses for God alone knows how to take our broken lives and make something beautiful out of them. How i love the illustration of Godís people even in glory where they cast their crowns of life back at the Lordís feet; Revelation 4:10-11 10the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: 11"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being." The greater one realizes that there is no good in us and no ability to do anything of eternal value, the greater our ability to be useful in the Hands of the One from Whom all things exist. The pride and arrogance of man is what led to our destruction and it will be just the opposite of those things that bring us back into a right relationship with Him.
The Master Craftsman desires to create in us the Beauty of His Son, which can only be done through the submission of our will to His. The submission of our will to His can only be done as we hear His voice over our own and this worldís by listening to His Word. And listening to His Word can only be done from a heart that realizes that we donít have the answers and so is willing to listen. And each step of this entire process of growth into the image of Christ is by His enabling and empowering in each and every life.
I donít know about you, by my heart desires to be a tool in the Hands of the One Who put the myriad of stars in the heavens, who has made things too beautiful and wonderful for my mind to comprehend and then who allowed those hands to be nailed to an old rugged cross to pay for the penalty of my own sin and rebellion. Those are the hands my heart desires to be yielded to!
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the Beauty of Your Heart and all that you have done! Teach me how to submit my will to Yours so that i may ever draw nearer and nearer to Your Heart and be the Tool of Life and Righteousness that reflects the One from Whom i exist. In Jesus Glorious Name! Amen
