Thought: To examine the purpose of our existence.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those
who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:5-7 (in Context) Matthew 5 (Whole Chapter)
What causes the power in a battery?
Is it when the electrons and protons within it become united? No, it’s in their
effort to become united that the power exists. There is coming a day of rest
for each believer in Christ but it’s not here yet. Thank our God He does give
us pit stops in this life to refuel and have our tires changed but if we think
that the joy of stopping and getting these needed items was for the purpose of
staying there in the pit stop, we are sadly mistaken.
If we allow ourselves to become
complacent when our physical needs are met, then we will dry up internally and
become totally useless to our Heavenly Father; John 15:2 He cuts
off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear
fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. John 15:1-3 (in Context) John 15 (Whole Chapter).
America began with men of such Faith
because of their tremendous need. They knew to honor God, which was expressed
through statements like “In God we Trust”. And yet now that God has blessed
America, we would like to prevent the public Honoring of Him within our schools
and public places. And yet we fail to realize that the greatest need we have is
not for our flesh, but for our hearts/who we are, not what we have.
Oh how we cut ourselves short of the
greatest blessings of life when we allow our love for Christ to grow cold when
our external needs are met. And yet, we’re so short sighted not to realize that
we are more than just flesh and bones. How America has gotten her eyes on the
pit stop of physical blessings God has given this nation because of those who
founded this nation as One Nation Under God and
forgotten that life is more than things.
Who do you think is going to receive
the harsher punishment at the judgment? Those who live in poor nations
where the dominant faith is Buddha or Mohammed or in America where it is
Christianity? How hurt God’s heart must be for this nation to wrap its heart
around the pit stop of His physical blessings to us and then try to push Him
out of our schools and public places. God’s Heart is Passionate! It would have
to be for Him to give as He did with His Son to die such a terrible death. But,
just as a passionate heart can love very, very deep, it can also be very, very
angry when wronged. I’d hate to be at the receiving end of God’s wrath, but
that is where this nation is heading if we don’t wake up and trim our hearts of
laziness, complacency, spiritual pride, and religious works without passion for
Christ.
No, we haven’t arrived and yes it is
time to awaken from our spiritual stupor and put on a hungering heart for
relationship with the One Who gave His All for us! Heavenly Father, please
forgive us for getting our hearts wrapped up in those things that are here and
gone. Teach us how to Love Your Precious Son Who gave
His All. In Jesus Glorious, Wonderful Name, Amen.
