Main thought: to examine the joys of Living in the Light

Living in the Light

1 John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. (Whole Chapter: 1 John 1 In context: 1 John 1:4-6)

1 Timothy 6:15-17 15which God will bring about in his own time--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen. 17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

1 John 2:10 Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him[ 2:10 Or it] to make him stumble. (Whole Chapter: 1 John 2 In context: 1 John 2:9-11)

John 1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. (Whole Chapter: John 1 In context: John 1:3-5)

To Live in the Light. What a thought to live clean and unashamed of our own wicked ways and to be clothed in the beauty of Christ our King! It seems that our lives here below are in a continual process of bringing to the top all of our impurities so that Christ our King may skim them away and ever transform us into His image. A good verse which depicts this is in Proverbs 20:29Amplified Bible (AMP)29The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is their gray head [suggesting wisdom and experience]. In other words, the longer we live, hopefully the more weíve learned how to live and how not to live. 1 Timothy 3 shares with us the importance of being tried and true prior to inheriting positions of responsibility. 1 Timothy 3:8-10 8Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons. So then, living in the light of Christ is similar to living near an all-consuming fire that consumes those things out of our lives that are consumable. What are those things that are consumable? Anything we can touch, see, smell, hear, or taste, in other words, anything that is experienced through our bodies. What are those things that are not consumable? Those things that are not experienced through our bodies but are experienced through our hearts; 2 Corinthians 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (Whole Chapter: 2 Corinthians 4 In context: 2 Corinthians 4:17-19) The fullness of things has never satisfied the eternal need within each and every human being and that is need for a living, loving relationship with the One from Whom we exist. Take note of what our Lord tells us of being rich in physical wealth verses rich in spiritual wealth. 1 Timothy 6:17-19. 17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. Did you notice those last words ďso that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.Ē? God help us all to look beyond those things that are only temporary and lifeless and that only give pleasure to this flesh that is here and gone. Take note of another verse showing us of how temporary worldly wealth is; Proverbs 23 5 Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle. Oh how the mother eagleís heart must feel a loss to see her little eagles which she has invested so much of herself into to one day just get up and fly away. God help us to look beyond the getting to the Giver of all things so that when itís our time to lay it all aside we can because our hope is in Him and not the gifts of His hands. I donít think we can even imagine the power and riches that was satanís before his heart became filled with self-pride. And, just as satan fell from power, authority, and riches so those things may fall from our lives but now because of Christ, there is no need for us to fall. Those who harbor in their hearts the gifts of Godís hands will someday not only find their hands empty, but also their hearts empty of Godís most wonderful indescribable love. Just as Christ is the first born of those who live by faith and not by sight, so satan is the first born of those who live by sight and not by faith. Now Christ is the One Who stands rich and filled with Godís best in glory and satan is demoted to this world and soon to eternal judgment. So it will be with each person. Those who make Christ their elder brother and follow His voice and who will not make the riches of this world their passion will someday find themselves richer than the richest person this world has ever known. Those who have made satan their guide by listening to his lies by focusing on the gifts of Godís hands rather than His heart in His Son will someday find themselves empty, lonely and broken with nothing for all eternity, poorest than the poorest person this world has ever known. Now is the time for us to listen, for today is the hour of salvation. God help us to hear what is important and what is only temporary. God only expects us to live in the light that He reveals to us. His Word is Light and many of us become consumed with the joy of revelation and yet Godís desire is for us to live His Word and not just hear it. God Bless every soul who finds their pleasure in living every revelation that is revealed to them rather than one being consumed with growing in the revelations of God without the fire of passion of obedience to keep the Word that is revealed to them. Matthew 25:21 "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' (Whole Chapter: Matthew 25 In context: Matthew 25:20-22)

Luke 19:17 " 'Well done, my good servant!' his master replied. 'Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.' (Whole Chapter: Luke 19 In context: Luke 19:16-18)

May He say to us ďWell done, you have been faithful in little, now I will give you muchĒ. God help us to learn how to give a glass of cold water in His name and pray for those who despitefully use us rather than to be busy about becoming know-it-alls when it comes to His Word or experts in the knowledge of His Word and yet paupers in the keeping of it. Itís time for Godís church to arise and to put on the armor of Christ by doing what He speaks into our hearts. Yes, there await many riches for those who are called in Christ Jesus. May our hearts ever be focused on what Heís given us today to live for His Glory, Honor, and Praise Him for in due time we will inherit untold riches!

Living in the Light of Christ for He is our Light. May the Joy of Christ fill you from the inside out as He becomes your passion and your guide! Heavenly Father, Thank you for the Light of Your Son! Teach us how to Love Him from the depths of our hearts and not just with the confessions of our mouths. Teach us to Love Him with lives learning how to bring every area of our selves under His authority. In Jesus, Glorious, Matchless Name Amen!
