Main Thought: The necessity of warfare

Time to Fight!

Ecclesiastes 3:8
a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
(Whole Chapter: Ecclesiastes 3 In context: Ecclesiastes 3:7-9)

1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (Whole Chapter: 1 Timothy 6 In context: 1 Timothy 6:11-13) 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (Whole Chapter: 2 Timothy 4 In context: 2 Timothy 4:6-8) Revelation 21:7 He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. (Whole Chapter: Revelation 21 In context: Revelation 21:6-8)

Matthew 10:34 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. (Whole Chapter: Matthew 10 In context: Matthew 10:33-35) Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. (Whole Chapter: Ephesians 6 In context: Ephesians 6:9-11)

Ecc 3:7-9 states that there’s a season/time for all things, a time for war and a time for peace. But you know, we as people love to talk of peace. And rightfully so, but unfortunately, because of sin if there is no war, there is no peace at least until we’ve overcome and breathed our last breath here below. And yet there are those when it’s time for us to rise to the occasion and take up our arms for warfare say, “oh shame on us for going to such drastic measures!” And yet, it’s those exact measures that are needed. Just as there are occasions in the physical world to bear our arms and rise to the battle when called for, so it’s necessary to realize that God’s coming is at hand and it’s time for His kids to rise and do spiritual warfare.

Our old foul nature loves to be lazy and yet loves to be clearly heard when we need to rise and fight. We’ve heard the nature of man cry out against America as she has risen to the occasion to say enough is enough concerning terrorism. And we’ve seen how God has used America’s attitude of hatred against evil to bring about victory. In the same way, He is trying to rally His troops to rise within the spiritual realm and do an awesome battle unto His Glory, Honor, and Praise. Just as the battle in Iraq was not for the weary hearted, so the present spiritual one is not. We will find our strength and courage to fight this fight as we draw near to the heart of our Commander and Chief Jesus Christ! Even if we’re called upon to lay our life down, we can do so in the spirit of Peace knowing that it was for Him we fought and His fight will not be in vain.

And, just as America had her Special Forces brave and courageous as they were to be in amidst the enemy so that they could paint the targets so that power could come from on high to destroy them, so God Our High Commander is calling His chosen ones to rise by His Power and Authority to put on the Spirit of prayer and intercession to paint the targets of the enemy so that they may be utterly destroyed. And, just as there is no pictures of the Special Forces displayed over our television sets due to the nature of their warfare, their commander knows who they are and is quite pleased with their operations. So too, those who take on the battle of prayer may not be visible before the body to be recognized, but their Commander knows and that’s all that matters to them! How long must we wait before we put on the passion of God’s Spirit to rise to the battle? God tells us in Ephesians 6:11-18 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (Whole Chapter: Ephesians 6) Note verse 11 where it says “take your stand” and then in verse 12 where it says “our struggle against the rulers, authorities, powers of this dark world, spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms”. Then in verse 13 which states because of the battle that is before us and because of wickedness which has just been presented to us in verse 12 how we are not to turn tail and run but to put on the full, not partial, armor of God for the purpose of standing our ground.

God will do the advancing as we learn how to stand. God is going to bring forth a great victory on behalf of those who learn how to stand in the Power and Authority of Christ and His Word. We need to align our spirits with His and pray fervently on behalf of His will for this world. We need to feel His burden for the lost and broken hearted. We need to birth revival in this lost and dying world by travailing in the Spirit. God will bring forth His revival and will bless those who hear His voice to rise to the occasion just as America is going to have her heroes who have responded to the call so God will have His. Just as our hearts burst with pride and joy for those who are on the front lines of the battle for this nation, our Heavenly Father is calling His chosen ones to rise to fight the fight of Faith. May our hearts hear the cry to rise and put on the breastplate of His righteousness (that which is meant to guard and protect the front only not the back), for our righteousness is but filthy rags in His sight;  Isaiah 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. (Whole Chapter: Isaiah 64 In context: Isaiah 64:5-7).

Wouldn’t it be great if work could be done without sweat or birth be done without pain? Of course, but it is not realty within this world because of sin. Satan would like us to think that we can have something for nothing but God says we reap what we sow; Proverbs 10:4 Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. (Whole Chapter: Proverbs 10 In context: Proverbs 10:3-5) and another verse is; Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. (Whole Chapter: Galatians 6 In context: Galatians 6:6-8) We all hate confrontation and yet, confrontation is sometimes necessary. Instead of complaining about the decision of our leaders to take up the sword against those in this world who would do us wrong we need to pray for them. I love the following verses in Romans 13 which talk about the authorities in this life; Romans 13:1-7 1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. 6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. 7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Instead of trying to undermine our leaders, we should be holding them up before the throne of God Who knows how to deal with those He has placed in authority over us; 1 Timothy 2:1-3 1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who knows?, maybe there were some Iraqis who had seen much torture and grief and has been crying out to God for deliverance and God heard their cry and decided to use the heart and hands of America to deliver them.  We should be very grateful to live in such a nation that not only has the power to bring forth deliverance but also the heart. May we ever hold our heads high, wave our flags vigorously, and pray for our leaders passionately until we cross over into our eternal reward!
