Main thought: To know & understand that there may be seasons of dryness and how to deal with them.
Heb_12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Even Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, had His days of plenty and His days of dryness. Days of walking on the water, and days of being the water (being tread upon by giving Himself to be crucified). John the Baptist who saw the Spirit of God descending from heaven like a dove, and it abiding on Jesus and who said to those following him “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” Who then later asks those who were following him to ask Jesus “Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?” See scriptural references John 1:29-34 and Luke 7:19-23
Even I myself who while in my twenties had many vivid dream/visions of the rapture and while also having a few in the last 10 years or so, notice a considerable lessening of the amount of them. While contemplating these facts, it seems as though God’s Spirit then prompted me to pen these thoughts.
Notice 2 Timothy 4:2; “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” God our Father recognizes that there are seasons of dryness and seasons of plenty, but for us to NOT be governed by them but for us to be consistent in our testimony throughout ALL seasons whether they be plenteous or not. Also notice John 5:35; “He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.” How easy it is for us to warm up to His light while He burned brightly during His ministry and yet how easy it was to run & hide while He was being taken away captive by those who were to tread upon Him.
Jesus IS coming to receive His bride SOON! He wants us to know this beyond all doubts and for those expecting Him to hear this word now. Some words He speaks to encourage us are as follows; Gal_6:9And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. And again here in; 1Pe_1:6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: Jesus, our Lord is so very gentle and how He desires to help us be strong notice His heart in the following scripture references; Isa 42:2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. And here in; Isa 42:3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
Jesus, our Lord and Leader has led the way and shown us by not only His Words but by His example to keep our eyes on the prize; Heb_12:2 “who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
So, since He is coming soon, lets allow His Word to encourage us as follows from Hebrews 10:22-25; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
So, by His Grace, let’s keep the lamps of faith & expectancy burning brightly for His shout which is to be heard shortly by all those expecting Him.
Heavenly Father, ever teach us to set our hearts on Jesus ever the more intently as the day draws near for Him to receive us unto Yourself. In Jesus Everlasting, Glorious, Name, Amen.
